The story behind the origins of WalkingPad

As a member of the founding team, I can say with full conviction: this will be my daily 'feel good' moment. Several years ago, when my teammates and I were postdoctoral and doctoral students at the University of Science and Technology of China, our groundbreaking robotics research won second place and even the RoboCup championship title in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Under enormous pressure from scientific research, I noticed that my energy and vitality were running low. My doctor advised me to exercise more, but I barely found time to even take a walk on the playground. I realized that I had to pull myself out of this state of lethargy and inactivity. I was looking for a training device that had no spatial limitations, was accessible anytime and anywhere, was easy and fun to use, and that allowed me to move while standing.

Unfortunately, such a product could not be found on the market, so we decided to make one ourselves: lightweight and compact, so that we could exercise anytime and anywhere, and could easily be stored in a corner after use, for example under a sofa or desk. And so the prototype of the treadmill that we now know as the WalkingPad was born.

When the WalkingPad prototype was ready, we received a lot of enthusiastic support from our friends. For the future, we aim to help more people fall in love with sports and a healthy lifestyle. We hope that everyone has a WalkingPad at home, a compact device that is with you anytime, anywhere, helps you get through difficult times and reminds you to cherish your health and hope.
